Enlighten about the event

  • The event is the culmination of a weeklong “Satyagraha se Swachhagraha” campaign run in Bihar from 3rdApril onwards.
  • Mahatma Gandhi launched the Champaran Satyagraha over a century ago, on 10th April, 1917, to give the country freedom from foreign rule.

What it is

  • April 10th, 2018 marks the end of the centenary year celebrations of the Champaran Satyagraha, and is going to be celebrated through the “Satyagraha se Swachhagraha” campaign, which is aimed at achieving freedom from filth.

Enlighten about Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Gramin

  • Launched on October 2, 2014 by the Prime Minister of India, ShriNarendraModi, is the largest behaviour change campaign ever attempted in the field of sanitation in the world.
  • It aims to build an ODF (Open Defecation Free) and Swachh Bharat by October 2, 2019 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.

What’s the NEWS

  • Successfully launched from Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Enlighten about the launch

  • The rocket was launched by VSSC under Sounding Rocket Experiment (SOUREX) programme for atmospheric studies.

What’s the benefits

  • It will study Equatorial E and lower ionosphere regions of atmosphere.
  • The study will enrich available atmospheric data and refine models used for tropical weather prediction.
  • The objective of experiment is to measure neutral wind in dynamo region (80-120 km) of equatorial ionosphere using indigenously developed Electron Density and Neutral Wind Probe (ENWi).
  • It will also perform cross-validation using an independent Tri Methyl Aluminium (TMA) release technique.

Enlighten about The Mark IV LCU vessels

  • Improved version of the Mark III LCU vessels presently being used by the Indian Navy.
  • These total eight vessels Mark IV category are amphibious ships with primary role to transport and deploy Main Battle Tanks (MTBs), armoured vehicles, troops and equipment from ship to shore.
  • LCU MK-IV vessels will be based in Andaman and Nicobar Command.
  • It can be deployed for multirole activities like beaching operations, disaster relief operations, search and rescue, supply and replenishment and evacuation from distant islands

World Homoeopathy Day

What

  • A two-day scientific convention is being organised in New Delhi by Ministry of AYUSH on the occasion of World Homoeopathy Day, on 10-11th April 2018.

  • This day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of Homoeopathy Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann.
  • The theme of this convention is "Innovate: Evolve; Progress: Exploring Science since 40 years".
  • The Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH),is organising a scientific convention on the World Homoeopathy Day to pay tributes to Dr. Hahnemann, on his 263nd birth anniversary.

  • is spoken in a remote and isolated hamlet which is almost 165 km from Bhubaneswar.
  • The community consists of about 75 speakers including children.
  • It belongs to the North Dravidian subgroup of the Dravidian family of languages

National Commission for Safai Karamcharis New Website & Mobile APP Launched

  • The new Website and Mobile App of the ‘National Commission for Safai Karamcharis’ was launched
  • By Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment
  • The new website and Mobile App will help the Commission in addressing the grievances/complaints of petitioners in an efficient manner.
  • The petitioners can file their grievances/complaints, etc. on-line on the website and thereafter track their grievances/complaints.
  • The petitioner can also lodge their grievances/complaints through their android mobile phones by using the Commission’s App

  • Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (DADF) inaugurated the website of Pashu Chikitsak Mahasangh namely www.pashuchikitsakmahasangh.in
  • dedicated it to Veterinarians of the country
  • The Pashu Chikitsak Mahasangh to develop it as an effective platform for sharing of knowledge and developing a database.

North-east development

NITI Forum for North East The first meeting held in Agartala, Tripura

  • The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog.

Focus areas

  • Strategies for improving Road, Rail and Air Connectivity in the North East Region, improvements in agriculture and allied sectors, water management were some of the key focus area during the meeting.

Enlighten about NITI Forum for Northeast

  • It was det up by the Union Government for North-East’ in February 2018.
  • The forum will be co-chaired by the Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog and Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER).
  • The forum will have its Secretariat in the Ministry of DoNER.
  • The NITI Forum for Northeast is tasked to identify various constraints on the way of accelerated, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the North East Region of the country and to recommend suitable interventions for addressing identified constraints. It will also review the development status in the NER.
  • The Forum includes representation from all NE States, their Chief Secretaries and Secretaries of relevant Central Ministries/Departments, Directors of reputed institutions (IIT, IIM etc), experts and journalists have been included as members.
