NITI Aayog

SATH-Education Roadmaps 2018-2020 has been released

  • The roadmaps for the Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital in Education (SATH-E) Project of NITI Aayog, being undertaken in partnership with three participating States of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha has been released
  • The forward-looking roadmaps for SATH-E were released at the conclusion of the first meeting of the National Steering Group (NSG), the governing body for the project, which is chaired by the CEO of NITI Aayog.

Enlighten about SATH-E

  • SATH-E aspires to be a ‘saathi’, to the educational system with the student and the teacher at its centre
  • The aim is to make the entire governmental school education system responsive, aspirational and transformational for every child.

iLMS (Integrated Litigation Management System)

  • an integrated, online software for efficiently managing education-related cases pending in various courts and tribunals.

Some more facts

  • The SATH-E initiative in based on formal agreements with the States and will be funded through a cost-sharing mechanism between NITI Aayog and the participating states.
  • The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL) were chosen as knowledge partners for the project facilitating review, data collection and implementation.
  • SATH-E has been envisaged as a programme which aims to transform elementary and secondary school education across these three states.
  • SATH-E roadmap refers to a time-bound, goal-driven exercise that will reach its logical culmination by the end of the academic year 2020.


VSHORAD India to buy short range air defence system

  • Army is set to begin contract negotiations in the multi-billion dollar deal for the very short-range air defence system or VSHORAD
  • The request for proposal was first issued in 2010 for over 5,000 missiles, 258 single launchers and 258 multi-launchers, estimated to cost Rs. 6,400 crore
  • Five companies who responded are MBDA of France; Rosoboronexport of Russia; and SAAB of Sweden made it


Lord Jagannath’s Nabakalebar festival Jagannath Temple in Puri, Orissa

Enlighten About Nabakalebar festival

  • It is an ancient ritual associated with most of the Jagannath Temples when the Idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarshan are replaced by a new set of Idols.
  • A year with an extra Ashadha masa/month as per Hindu Calendar is considered auspicious for conducting the ceremony. This usually occurs every twelve to nineteen years.
  • The Deities are made from a special type of Neem wood known as Daru Bramha.

International Competition Network 2018 The 17th Annual Conference of ICN 2018 going to be hosted in New Delhi.

  • India is hosting the ICN2018 Annual Conference for the first time since it joined International Competition Network (ICN) in 2009.
  • The last Conference was hosted by Portuguese Competition Authority in 2017 at Porto, Portugal.
  • The conference will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and strategies for effective enforcement of competition law and for strengthening cooperation amongst the competition authorities as they strive to promote and sustain competition in rapidly changing markets.

Enlighten about ICN

  • ICN is an international body comprising 132 members from 120 competition jurisdictions exclusively devoted to international competition enforcement.
  • The ICN’s main goal is to improve and advocate for sound competition policy and its enforcement across the global antitrust community.
  • The ICN is a voluntary, consensus-based organisation. The ICN is not a rule-making organisationand its work products are not legally binding instruments.
  • Its members are national competition authorities and NGA (Non-governmental Advisers) which include reputed law firms, eminent persons, and think tanks of international repute.

  • Hindu New Year welcomed in different parts of the country with traditional festivities and celebrations.
  • The Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Navareh, Navroz and Chetti Chand are the same festivals in different names, marking the occasion.

Anti -dumping duty imposed on Ofloxacin imported from China


  • The Revenue Department in the Finance Ministry

Enlighten about Ofloxacin

  • a pharma product used in treatment of certain infections.
  • It was imposed for three years following recommendations of Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) to protect domestic producers from below-cost shipments.
  • After probing DGAD had found that Ofloxacin exported to India from China was below its normal value, resulting in dumping.
  • Ofloxacin is in class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.
