Ministry of Human Resource Development

Rs 1000 crore for research in science and technology in next two years under IMPRINT-II

  • The Central Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 1000 crore for the phase two of the Impacting Research Innovation and Technology (IMPRINT) India programme.
  • The IMPRINT-II fund is being created by the Department of Science and Technology and Ministry of Human Resource Development together

  • IMPRINT is the first of its kind MHRD supported Pan-IIT + IISc joint initiative to address the major science and engineering challenges that India must address and champion to enable, empower and embolden the nation for inclusive growth and self-reliance.
  • This novel initiative with twofold mandate is aimed at:

(a) Developing new engineering education policy
(b) Creating a road map to pursue engineering challenges
IMPRINT provides the overarching vision that guides research into areas that are predominantly socially relevant.

Sukhad Yatra mobile app

Going to launch by -

Enlighten about the app -

  • Sukhad Yatra mobile application has been prepared by National Highways Authority of India, NHAI, to empower the Highway user.
  • The key feature of the app includes provision for the user to enter road quality-related information or to report any accident or pothole on the highway.
  • It also provides users with real-time data related to waiting time expected at Plazas and various facilities like points of interest, highway nest/nest mini, etc., available across the highway.
  • The app can also be used by the users to purchase the FASTag tag and further facilitate the highway user experience.

  • Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to be continued beyond the 12th Plan period for three years to 2019-20 – announced by the Government

  • Ministry of MSME since 2008-09.
  • The Scheme is aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector by helping traditional artisans and unemployed youth in rural as well as urban areas.
  • The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is the nodal implementation agency for the PMEGP at the national level.

Namaste Shalom India – Israel Relations

  • The government has launched the social media of “Namaste Shalom”, a magazine devoted to India-Israel relations.

  • It is a regular monthly magazine on bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
  • The magazine aims to strengthen India-Israel relations and provide a platform for exchanging views between Indians and Jews the world over.

Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas (Our Village, our development) Developmental Programme by Odisha Government

  • It is a programme to reach out to people in rural areas and involve themselves in developmental activities.
  • Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off mobile video vans that will move across the state to highlight various welfare schemes at villages in the state.
  • It will enable people to connect with the government
  • Through this programme, people can directly send their grievances to Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) at Secretariat in Bhubaneswar through Wi-Fi enabled latest technology video wall vans.
  • This initiative administration will help people in solving their grievances instantly.

Economy

Sovereign with symbol SOV Worlds first legal tender to be launched by Marshal Island

  • Marshall Islands in Pacific Ocean is set to become first country in world to recognize cryptocurrency as its legal tender and adopt transparent crypto monetary system.
  • It has passed a law to create the digital currency called “Sovereign” with symbol SOV
  • The Islands country is partnering with Israeli fintech startup Neema to launch its SOV.
  • It will have equal status with US dollar as form of payment.
  • The island country will issue 24 million SOVs in Initial Currency Offering (ICO).
  • It will be circulated as legal tender in the country, alongside its current local currency, US dollar.
  • Venezuela was the first country to officially launch its own cryptocurrency named Petro, backed by crude oil reserves but its validity as legal tender is not yet known.
