First ‘all-women’ railway station in A.P

  • Chandragiri station near Tirupati as the “all-women railway station”
  • Managed South Central Railway (SCR) zone
  • Chandragiri became the first station in Andhra Pradesh to get the privileged status, as Begumpet got the tag for Telangana the same day.
  • Chandragiri, native place of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has its far-flung station located beyond Narasingapuram village.

Cyber Security

Saposhi – a new Malware detected Earlier Malware attacks Mirai and Reaper

  • Cybersecurity agencies have detected a new malware called Saposhi
  • It is capable of taking over electronic devices and turning them into ‘bots’, which can be then used for any purpose which includes a Distributed Denial Of Service attack

Enlighten about Distributed Denial Of Service attack

  • In DDoS attacks, the malware first creates a network of bots called a botnet via internet-connected devices
  • It then uses the botnet to ping a single server at the same time
  • As the number of pings is far beyond the server’s capacity, the server crashes and denies service to its consumers

Enlighten about Previous malware attacks

  • Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) had issued an alert about reaper last year in November
  • It was a highly evolved malware capable of not only hacking devices like WiFi routers and security cameras, but also able to hide its own presence in the bot

Enlighten about Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)

  • Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology been designated under Section 70B of Information Technology (Amendment) Act 2008
  • It is the nodal agency to deal with cybersecurity threats like hacking and phishing
  • It strengthens the security-related defense of the Indian Internet domain

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

  • The two-day national seminar “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” was recently conducted at New Delhi.
  • The seminar was organised to spread the message that indigenous values and teachings of Vedas can only help India achieve its lost glory and attain the status of “Vishwa Guru” once again.
  • Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: It is a Sanskrit phrase found in Hindu texts such as the Maha Upanishad, which means “the world is one family”.

SUVIDHA 100% Oxo-biodegradable Sanitary Napkin

Under the aegis of

  • The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).

  • The affordable sanitary napkin will be available for Rs. 2.50 per pad

Where -

  • at Janaushadhi Kendras across India.
  • It would ensure ‘Swachhta, Swasthya and Suvidha’for the underprivileged Women of India.
  • This is a step taken by the Department of Pharmaceuticals.

Pritzker prize Balkrishna Doshi

  • Legendary Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi (90), a pioneer of low-cost housing design has won the prestigious Pritzker Prize, considered architecture field’s Nobel.
  • He is 45th Pritzker laureate and first from India to receive it.
  • He is one of the last living architects to have apprenticed with Franco-Swiss trailblazer Le Corbusier distinguished his work by committing to sustainable architecture and inexpensive housing.
  • He was awarded Padma Shri in 1976 and 6th Aga Khan Award for Architecture for Aranya Community Housing, 1993-1995.

Enlighten about Pritzker prize

  • The international Pritzker prize was established by Chicago’s Pritzker family in 1979.
  • It is considered to be one of the world’s premier architecture prizes, and is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture.
  • It is awarded annually and bestows laureates with $100,000 along with bronze medallion.

Udyam Sakhi Portal

  • a portal for women entrepreneurs of India.

Enlighten about the portal

  • For nurturing entrepreneurship and creating business models for low cost products and services in order to empower women and make them self-reliant and self-sufficient.
  • The portal provides assistance through its platform for entrepreneurship learning tools, incubation facility, training programs for fund raising, providing mentors, one-on-one investor meet, provide market survey facility and technical assistance.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Expanded from 161 districts to all the 640 districts in India.

Enlighten about BBBP -

  • This Scheme was launched in January, 2015.
  • Aimed at promoting gender equality and the significance of educating girls.
  • The Scheme is targeted at improving the Child Sex Ratio through multi sectoral interventions including prevention of gender biased sex selection and promoting girls’ education and her holistic empowerment.
  • It is a tri-ministerial effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare and Human Resource Development.

Agriculture

Rs 1,151 crore Scheme approved by the government To promote in-situ management of crop residue in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi will be implemented for 2 years

Why -

  • To provide a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to farmers to deal with the problem of stubble burning that results in raising air pollution levels in the capital and neighbouring states every winter.

Enlighten about the scheme –

  • A fund will be created to promote agricultural mechanisation for the next two years (2018-20).
  • The fund will primarily be used to subsidise machinery required for in-situ management of the crop residue.
  • This fully centrally-funded scheme, will assist individual farmers, cooperative societies, farmer producer organisations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), private entrepreneurs and registered groups of women farmers.
  • Department of agriculture of concerned state government will be the nodal implementing agency.
  • It would be the responsibility of state governments to identify various beneficiaries and location–specific agricultural equipment, depending on the farming system.
